Paid to Troll - I Though So

I have long thought that much of the trolling that goes on in progressive blogs was part of an organized campaign. For the simple reason, it would be easy enough to do. Just hire a bunch of people to write disruptive comments in blog comment sections. It seems there is even a term to describe it “internet astroturfing” See George Monbiot's article on this:

It's actually quite interesting, and the "internet campaigns" of the ruling class have attracted quite a bit of attention recently. To my great disappointment I have yet to be a victim of such a thing. If it happened it would signal that the powers that be are actually worried about what appears on my tiny little blog.

On the other hand they do know about you, as we have seen from the location of some of the people reading you. I think they realize they won't get very far with you - the way to deal with these scum is called "comments moderation" and for you and me if someone is an obvious disruptive jerk they get turfed. With the more liberal left there is a tendency to be weak kneed about this and the trolls take advantage of it.

Molly: I think these trolls, search for keywords of their sponsors.

Try attacking one of the firms that use that software, and see what happens.

Perhaps I have already met them as I have had numerous "corporate defenses" to various posts on my blog. The most recent was an exchange with a supposed woman from California ! about the SEIU's support of Mexican immigrant workers victimized by both La Migra AND Chipotle in Minneapolis ! The exchange went on and on. As I expressed to her, "if you are a disinterested member of the public I will shit my pants in public".

There have been others. What I( notice is that the "big boys" hardly ever resort to this sort of thing. I may get 10 visits from the Royal Bank or Walmart over a given article, but they recognize the small size of my blog and do not reply.

Speaking of "small" I have received at least one threat of legal action from Holy Rollers in Ontario (I BEGGED them to try it) and one drunken aggressive reply from one of the managers of an enterprise that the UFW were trying to organize in the Pacific NW of the USA.

In sum I think that the influence of my tiny little blog is still so miniscule that "big players" would be wasting their time in spamming it. I am in great hope that I would eventually be so important.
