But too many phoney-baloney jobs would be put in jeopardy if this obvious solution was brought into play. Of course poverty itself is a major factor in all this. I remember waiting at a bus stop a couple of years ago where I got into a conversation with a woman who it turned out was a social worker in downtown Regina. I suggested, somewhat boldly, that replacing the current welfare system with a guaranteed annual income would be a step in the rigbt ( actually left ) direction.
