Very good. I listened to a few speakers (I will check out the others tommorow). I found Bob William's talk on Bolgona Italy interesting. 1 in every 10 people own a business, yet they have voted left for the last 50 years. Cooperation and competition together? They are enemies in the US. I am intrigued. thanks.

(btw, nice to see this stuff going on in a major Canadian city. My mother is from a small farming town in Manitoba and I have dual US/Canadian citizenships. I visit quite often.)

Bob Williams is an interesting person. Not only a former city councellor, but also a former cabinet minister. He was responsible for creating the Agricultural Reserves back in 1973 and at the time credited Henry George for the idea. He is also a successful business man owning among other things, Vancouver's famed Railway Club bar, favorite venue for "alternative" music of all kinds back in the 1980's. Bob ran for leadership of the NDP but was considered too radical (ie too principled) for the party establishment and narrowly lost. It does not surprise me that he is interested in the Emilia-Romagna experience as he has always been a democratic socialist - but somewhat suspicious of statism - rather than a wishy-washy social democrat.
